"We found Michael Murphy of Trident Fine Woodworking through the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association, and we feel like we really lucked out when chose his name from the membership list. Every aspect of our project with Michael, from the very first exploratory emails to delivery and installation of the finished product, exceeded our (high) expectations.
We had Michael craft a large, wall-hung cabinet for our art glass. We went to his shop where he showed us several possibilities for wood to use and we talked about construction details that we hoped to include, like dovetail joints and movable shelving. While there, we also got to see some of his other work in person, and his craftsmanship is just outstanding. Everything. Is. Perfect. We ultimately chose a lightly figured maple that we all thought would form a subtle but beautiful backdrop for the art glass. And it did. The cabinet is as much art as its contents.
Michael and his very nice wife, Theresa, delivered the finished cabinet and installed it for us. Every time we look at it, it makes us happy all over again.
If you have the chance to work with Michael (and Theresa), take it. The craftsmanship is worth every dime and the experience is 5-stars."
What started as a therapeutic hobby, in his off time as a Navy SEAL, woodworking quickly became a passion for Michael Murphy. He was so inspired, he took it upon himself to study and learn the art of woodworking.
After over a decade of service in the military, Michael decided to turn his passion into a career and established Trident Fine Woodworking. This decision not only created a way for him to make a living doing what he loves to do, it also allowed him to remain close to home to be with his family.
Michael’s elite training in precision and perseverance, as well as his respect for nature, all resound in each piece he creates. Using sustainable lumber and salvaging downed trees, Michael gives them new life, creating beautiful, one of a kind, heirloom pieces that will last for generations
Michael’s pride in both past and present come through in each piece he handcrafts, and a portion of his proceeds go to benefiting his brothers, both fallen and active duty, through the Navy SEAL Foundation.
